பிரம்ம தேசம் அல்லது பிரம்மதேயம்

Brahmadesam is a small village in Tirunelveli. This was a Brahmadeyam  i.e the grant given by RajaRaja Chola to Chaturvedi Brahmanas. The temple Kailasnatha has some rich sculptural wealth. Romasa Maharishi had worshiped Siva here.

This is also the birth place of SarvajnaAtman, 2nd Acarya of Kanci Peetham.  At the entrance there is a small mandapam where the roof has some wooden-like strucure. But Actually it is rock work.

Near Nandi, on the roof there is a bell made of single stone.

On the RHS, there is another big mandapa where some beautiful rock works can be seen. See how artistically the curve of tails of Yali is done.

See also the carvings in the temple door. There is also a  7 ft tall siva statue weighing 200KG with sandals standing without any support.

There is another Siva temple in Sivasailam where Nandi is famous. Here it is said that when the sculptor was making Nandi, all of a sudden it started moving. Hence he has to hit it to make it sit down. You can see the right leg of the Nandi raised a bit while other 3 are bent

Also see how Nandi's tail is bent and coming out of it's hind leg. Once the Arcaka showed the marks on Nandi's back when beaten by sculptor. This can't be seen now as it is covered with vastra
